The Internet just keeps getting cooler

The Internet always has been, as Al Gore said when he invented it, "Friggin awesome!" But there are legions of weirdos out there striving to make it even cooler. You may have heard talk about the Web 2.0, the Semantic Web, etc. Acronyms abound: RDF, XML, AJAX, RSS, REST, etc. But what I like most is when things just work and do cool things without you even having to think about them.
Social bookmarking is such a thing.
I've actively encouraged everyone I know to use StumbleUpon. It's pretty self-explanatory. It's so fun, it will drain away almost all of your free time. Huzzah!
If you're more hardcore about it, there's del.icio.us, which I'm finding more useful. You can bookmark a page and add tags to it, ala Flickr. So then you have a whole list of pages that are available to you from bookmarklet buttons in your web browser, or from logging into the del.icio.us site. They're also adding stuff constantly, and they don't seem to have plans to start charging for stuff, as StumbleUpon is starting to do. They recently added recommendations and adding tags for another person, though I have yet to screw around with these. But one thing they've done is added easy access to your most recently bookmarked pages. They're calling it a linkroll. So when you hear a pretentious hipster talking about his linkroll on his blog (which may also feature a blogroll), you'll know what they're talking about.
So now, in case I haven't updated and you're bored, just look to the left and there's all the websites I've found recently that are worth remembering. Of course, this assumes that you have any free time left due to your newfound addiction to StumbleUpon and del.icio.us.
